Fully untensilled wall at Best Made Company
I came across this photo last week (previous blog) and it reminded just
how exciting walls can be. What I love about this wall is the combination of
products, props and visual messages, each item strengthening the visual impact
of the others.
Walls in retail spaces are hugely important, particularly the wall at the back of the store. Merchandised properly and the wall will draw customers
to it, pulling customers through the store. It’s the light at the end of
the tunnel.
For best effect the wall needs to stand out from the rest
of the store, it could have a different finish, standout colour, or amazing
display feature. Unfortunately wall space in most
shops is a valuable sales area and most often is consumed by shop fitting and
products rammed onto shelves. But, even if this is the case there’s still the
space above the shop fittings and if you’ve lucky enough to have more than one
floor there’s always the wall adjacent to the stairs.
So, if you’ve got a bit of underused wall space maybe it’s
time to do something with it, make it stand out, draw attention to it, add
colour, add light, tell a story through your product selections and services,
oh, and remember to change it on a regular basis.
Here are a few of my favourite walls.
