Less
than three weeks to go until Santa sets to work. At this time of year it’s very
hard for retailers, especially independents, to not just go with the flow.
Footfall increases, individual customer spend increases and everyone just gets
busier and busier.
But if retailers
really want to make this a record breaking season it’s not a time to sit back
and let it happen. My advice is keep
communicating with your customers, keep getting your messages out there and
keep repeating yourself over and over and over again.
I know,
everyone is too busy, there’s no spare time and so on, but believe me, this is
a great opportunity not just to increase sales in the last few weeks before
Christmas but to start laying the foundations for 2016.
And, it
doesn’t need to be hard as you think. Focus on just a few things, it could be
your best sellers, gifts for him/her, best friends, secret Santa or discounted offers. Get the message in your shop, repeat it on social
media and email it to your customers. The same message delivered in as many
formats as you can muster and, remember, visual content gets a better response
than just text. A few photos taken in your shop with your phone and posted with
your message on social media might just hit the spot.
The
extra effort is worth it...
